Joking aside, you've got a great ride! I've really enjoyed the read.

The time and money are scarce at this point, as a student i only have my weekends to work for money, and work for the jeep. The summer was great when i had all the time in the world, not so much the case anymore though.

The final rush is setting in, I'm hoping to have it all tied up by december 20 for a local run.

I've considered it, i'm thinking that unless this contacts at full flex then i'll keep it, runny a waggy one would require me to ream it out since i'm running one ton tre's.

Inserts of some sort are required, the idea is that the bead of the tire is pinched in between the edge of the insert and the outer piece of the rim on each side, creating a double beadlock. I will take a bunch of good pictures when i get them all together to try and illustrate it well. I've gotten all my info on them from here and pirate, and just playing with them.

(outer half of rim)(bead of tire)(insert)(bead of tire)(other half of rim)

if that makes any sense thats the order of the setup

it makes sense, i wasnt aware that the run flat was the only inner insert. i assumed there was another one to create the beadlock

what is the thickness of those inserts, if you air down enough wont you be running on them. i know lots of ppl use them. is there a 'thin' insert?

Sorry for the delay, been very busy. That was the idea of cutting them down to shorten them so they don't rub when i'm aired down. Someday i'd like to make the switch to pvc inserts or something very thin but theyre not cheap so these will have to do, theyre only a few inches thick now.

I will probably move to them at some point or the metal cages from Dean on PBB but for the time being I want to avoid the extra cost and just get this thing going! Lots of updates now.

Ordered a whole bunch of stuff. Still waiting on new centers and lots of parts from ballistic and ruffstuff for the traction bar. Plenty of room for it now though.

A glasspack will eventually be going in i think.
Welded up and reinstalled the carrier in the 60 since the lockright i bought wont work (diff was a limited slip, what a b****)

Brakes are just about done, just need the flare the hardlines for the fittings. 90's K3500 front hoses are like 26 inches long and are the same fittings so that worked nicely, pretty cheap too, then spent 20 minutes flipping through the books with the guys at napa getting the rear figured out.

Cut the rear well open a bit to give it some more stuff room.

Torched off the old shock towers since I need to run 14's up front for the travel and the stock tower can't accommodate them. Having Appalachian bend me up some new tubes, should look sweet.

No worries, i did grind it down and clean it up, just no pics. I also decided i didn't like the style, width, or mounting of my old bumper, so its gone now. Made up a new one that i like much more, it looks way better i think. I also made it bolt on so if i decide to remove it it wont be such a pain this time around.

And voila.

That is an awesome build you are working on, a ton of progress. I wish I had the money and another daily driver to park mine and start working. All in good time I suppose.

Very long string of updates, I've come a long way.

Rims are just about finished minus rock rings. I used Great Lake Offroad centers, great product.

got the rear tires mounted up and put on, they look sweet i think, and i got my shock hoops just about finished, still need some bracing i think and then some paint.

i'm also only running 3.25 inches of backspacing on my rims so its looking like i may be able to outboard my rear shocks which would simplify that process enourmously.

i'm actually alot narrower than i thought, in the front im sitting at about 84 inches outside to outside, maybe a little wider by an inch or so. with the 16.5's though i clear the calipers entirely.

i got all 4 tires mounted now and was able to play around a bit. painted the shock hoops, they still need some bracing though. The bilsteins ofcourse use metric bushings so 1/2" don't fit and 7/16" rattle so i wrapped the in electric tape for the time being.

Also got a moment to play with the 4wd for the first time, man this thing can climb, but i definitely need lower gears, I'm running 4.10's with the stock case so i'm in the market for a 4:1 now
