Update 05/04/2009
So I got a lot done this weekend. I went up to the Line-x place here in Knoxville, which happens to be just down the street from me. The guy that runs the place, David, was very helpful and really took an interest in my project. I HATE to leave my Jeeps with anyone to do work, I think that if you want something done right you should do it yourself. It doesn't help that I am very particular and want nothing short of perfection or it will eat at me until it's fixed. In this case that isn't an option so I have to leave it there. I made an appointment to drop it off Tuesday night, they should have it back to me by Friday evening.
I hate having deadlines, I tend to put it off until the last minute, so I still have a few things left to do tonight. I need to fill a dent in the floor that I do not want to show up in the line-x and I have 5 or 6 screw holes to fill in the Cj Tailgate. Once I get it back from Line-x i can get the interior finished up and that just leaves paint and suspension swap. Than part out the red Jeep. I got the interior washed out of the PO mud and cleaned up some of the body dents and odd holes here and there. I was also able to get the armor and those pin stripes pulled. Nothing really that exciting to take pics of but here are a few from the weekend. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() \ Now the problem; Originally I was going to have the Line-x done in tan to look like this: ![]() I will be running a tan dash and these seats that i already have in the Red Jeep: ![]() After I made my appointment I was think that all the tan might be to much. Yes I know that I'm gay but the colors have to look good together. So I was thinking maybe just black: ![]() Not to mention that the black is $300 cheaper. While that helps it isn't a deciding factor for me I would rather have what I want, than to save the cash. Opinions welcome.

I think you should go with black, not just cause its cheaper but i personally think it would look better. I have black herc on my floors and a tan dash and it looks great, plus my jeep is tan so the black and tan combo looks good to me. But i liked a more blacked out interior. Plus it is possible that too much of one color will make it look bad. Just my 2cents though

I got everything wrapped up on the interior last night around midnight. I wish someone could explain to me why I make an appointment for Tuesday and then take the next 2 days off of working on the heep, just to stay up late the night before finishing everything up. The 2 days off are the only days I have taken off since I got this thing.
Anyhow, I will most likely get to drive this thing up to the Line-X place in the rain. I'm so excited. |

So I dropped off the project at Line-x last night. Driving past a cop with only 1 rear taillight, no headlights, no turn signals, no seat belts, no roll bars or rear view mirrors will make you contemplate going to jail and having your project impounded.
Good thing the place is only 3 blocks from the house and the cop that I passed was busy writing someone else a ticket. I immediately started cutting throught parking lots and back alleys for the final 300 yards. I think I will have it towed home. |

haha, maybe he just got a short glance and thought it was a short pick up. When i took my feeder flares off, and had my doors off i could roll by a cop and not have to worry, only if i wasn't wereing my seatbelt would they care. I can't wait to see it when it gets back.

05/08/2009 Update
I got the Jeep back last night and the Line-X looks GREAT!!!! Much better than the Herc that was in my last rig. This actually the first time that i have dropped my rig with someone else to do work and they didn't screw it up. With the time and prep of and BS of doing Herc, Line-x is worth every penny.
Before Line-X: ![]() After ![]() Close up: ![]() I tried to get a pic of the thickness, it seems to be anywhere from 1/8" to 3/16" thick and 1/4" in the floor boards: ![]() 1 more: ![]() I love it, even with the top off I can tell it cuts down on road noise and heat coming from the floor boards. So now I will have to do the body work, I hate Bondo!!!! So I will be starting the back and working my way forward. The tailgate is already done: ![]() Feels good to be moving froward now. Stripping the Jeep down makes you feel like you always moving away from where you want to be. Like you keep adding more and more work because almost every screw and bolt you take off will go back on. That's it for today. Not sure how much I will get done this weekend. I have a big push to have the Jeep ready for paint by the 12th of June. This weekend I have a garage sale on Saturday along with my birthday and then mother's day on Sunday. I'm turning 30 and I don't want to even think about it.
