Got a few hours in last night, my new garage helper Murphy, our 16 week old golden retriever, decided to make an appearance:
![]() I decided to start the exterior tear down first, moving back to front that then on to the interior. I also have decided to Line-x the interior a tan color to match the dash that will be going in this thing. I have email the local Line-x place for a quote but I haven’t heard anything back yet. The interior will end up looking like this: ![]() I got the soft top off, all soft top hardware removed, tail lights and all the other crap bolted to the rear off. I also was able to get the roll bar unbolted and 1 rear flare removed. I got stuck on the side steps and ended up calling it a night. I should be able to really make some head way this weekend. It is suppose to warm up and be nice out. What I got accomplished: ![]() New pile of parts: ![]() Sorry for the blurry images, this camera is a piece. The parts in bags will be transfered over to the old jeep. The goal is to have the exterior and interior completly tore down and to also have some of the armor mocked up by the end of this coming weekend.

What dash are you putting in? Are you going to paint it spice or go aftermarket?

My girlfriend saw me readin this thread the other night. All she could say was "What kinda woman would be pissed about a Jeep?!?!? What's wrong with these women?" I know, I am a lucky bastard.
I just picked up my 95 Sahara, 100K absolutely mint and fully loaded. First thing she said "This thing could use a lift and bigger tires"...couldn't agree more. Awesome lookin Sahara you bought, I'm rediculously jealous of the price you paid! Good luck man. |

This was the compromise for my Jeep to the wifey,
![]() She wanted one after driving her parents' '00 GC for a bit. Since I have almost 230K miles on my 4.0, she was determined to get a GC with a 4.0, so, we got this '04 GC with only 24,000 miles on it last year. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't threaten to put a lift on it, She says that's HER Jeep, and I have my own to do what I want to with it!! That last statement justifies all the items bought for my Jeep, ![]() ![]() Jerry ![]()

Update 4/13
Quote:
I found out that Mopar has stock interior colors in a rattle can. I like the Tj sand color, I think that's what it is called? I have seen the finish this produces and it will look stock. More on the interior later on in the build. So I got a lot of work done this weekend considering my parents were in town for Easter and I lost 1 full day on Sunday for obvious reasons. I also had to go to a funeral for a friend of mine that lost his battle with cancer. Young guy, very sad day. Anyhow I was able to get a lot done, the interior was torn down completely minus the roll bars and drivers seat. I was able to get the front fenders and rear tailgate removed in preparation for the Tube fenders and Cj tailgate. I was also able to get all the armor pulled from the donor Jeep and fitted and bolted down to the new Jeep. ![]() I was able to finally pull the diff cover on the D44 to see what gears it had. You could tell that someone had been in there so I had some small hopes that it had been re geared. Unfortunately it still had the factory 3.07 gears. The good news is that everything in the diff still looks new so I am going the have 4.88 gears installed late this week or early next. I have a few pics on my phone, I will post up more later this evening. Driver side sliders fitment test: ![]() Passenger side corner armor fitment test: ![]() Like I said I will post more pics tonight. Along with a few of my now sad looking red heap. This week my goal is to get the tailgate, tube fenders and Tj grill transferred by Friday. I would also like to get the roll bars pulled, finishing the prep for the Line-x that I haven't completely decided on. I think that it is a little ambitious with my wife being off form work this week so it may be completed by Sunday. Don't need to be any more on her bad side with this project or it may not be there when I come home from work. ![]() |

Been calling around for quotes to get the gears setup up in the Dana 44 and it looks like I underestimated the cost. When ! re geared the D35 2 years ago it was $400 parts and labor. The same shop that did those for me is quoting me $705.
I could knock $100 or so of that number if I bring him the parts, but this guy only works on what he wants too, so if you mess with him to much he will tell you to piss off. So there goes the shackle reversal I was wanting to do, oh well it will just for another time. |

Is that axle (D44) a stock part? I've got the same Jeep as that and its has a D35 I believe.

No, the D44 I picked up is out of an 87 Cherokee. Same width as the Wrangler D35. I just need to weld on some leaf perches and it will be ready to go.
