Project "Pissed Wife" updated 05/08/2009

Calling this build "Pissed Wife" because I bought another Jeep with out getting permission. I just showed up with it on Saturday afternoon and my wife was pissed, but she got over it as usual.

So it's been a while since I have done any major building on my rig. In fact it has been rather un problemmatic lately which is odd. This is what has most likely led me to fix whats not broke.

It all started when I rode with a buddy of mine that has a 4.0, I have the 2.5L and don't mind it. I was orginally just going to pick up a 5.3L Vortec and throw that in there but I happened across this:

He originally wanted $2000 8 months ago but had 0 bits so the price has been dropping. I waited for it to get below $1000 and it did this weekend, he was asking $900 and I drove it home for $600.

The Good:
The motor - Fresh long block
Tranny- Fresh rebuilt
Frame- beautiful
Gas tank- 20 gal.
Body- few dings and dents

The Bad:
Suspension- Superlift 2.5", sounds like it is going to fall off.
Tires are dry rotted and bald.
Top- old
Paint- will need some attention.
Mud everywhere (I HATE mud)
Squirl nest of wires from added on accessories

I will building a D44 for the rear with 4.88 gears, moving over most of my upgrades from the 90 Yj (current rig in sig). Freshing up the pint and the interior, I don't like Grey so I'm going to change it. Also adding a few other goodys I'll talk about later and fixing some of the PO crazieness.

I plan on covering Paint, Suspersion, engine upgrades, axle upgrades, wheels, tires and interior in this build in preticular order. More to come soon.

Nice treasure. I have been real lucky, the wife only asks "How much is it going to cost now??" She doesn't get pissy or anything.

If I had done that my name for the project would have been.
Project sleep on the couch,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,lol
Na My girl is good about stuff like that, we are putting stuff together for a SOA.
I have spent all morning cutting off old brackets n grinding, although she wouldn't kiss me till I washed my face, she didn't gripe about the noise.

Great buy and she will get over it, (trust Me, I know). You should however, be prepared to hear about your unauthorized purchase for the next six months, you will be reminded for little or no reason. The good news is that it will still be the best $600 you spent for a long time!!!

I'm sure I will spend a few nights on the couch before this builds over. The D44 I'm building I picked up last night AFTER she went to work.

I got an 89 Xj D44 with alloy 35 splined shafts and matching carrier (new in box) for $300. I haven't had the heart to tell her yet. I think I'll just let that one be a surprise....................... She hates suprises.

She is usually very understanding. She let me sell our last house to move 2 doors down into an exact copy of our house. The difference is that PO had added a 3 car garage to this house and I only had a 2 car. I told her I needed more room to work, she agreed.
