problems with manual transmissions?

a friend on mine was asking if there are any known problems with the manual transmissions on the 1993 model. i searched a little bit, and couldn't find anything, but thought you guys might know. the cj in question was wrecked, so that might be the issue. but his daughter has been having problems ever since she bought it a year ago. thanks for you help!

One thing though, if it's a 93 then it's a YJ or are you talking about 2 different Jeeps? I'm sorry I can't help I just saw that when I read your post.

There are no known major problmes with the 1993 YJ manual trannies .. there are two choices, the AX5 behind the 4banger (2.5l) and the AX15 behind the 6popper (4.0l).

The AX15 is known to survive behind a slightly massaged Chevy 350 and I don't know enough about the AX5 to say much more than they keep goin' like the EngergizerBunny

If she is having trouble shifting it is most likely the sink-rows. I have the AX-15 and 106,000 and their shot. With out more info it is hard to tell. Go have it checked. Could run $200-$3000. Good luck.

i don't know many of the details either

she replaced the transmission not long after she bought it, and now the clutch has gone out. i'm thinking its related to the accident, if there isn't anything known to be wrong with the transmission. but then again, i don't know much about trannies.

thanks for your help everyone - i'll pass it along...

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!
