Is this a problem, can someone explain this

while poking around under the hood of my new 95 4 banger I noticed what looked like a front seal thats pushed out behind and under the crank pulley. Much to my surprise the 4.0 in my Sahara looks the same way, is this just the way they are?

It has a bad valve cover gasket leak that im fixing today and I think thats where all the oil down their has came from. The engine only has 94000 miles

Also sorry for the big pics can someone tell me how to resize them?

When most seals are over-tighten. They usually push out. Now there are some that where designed to push out and in to maintain that seal. Now to really see this you would have to be doing a replacement or tear down.

For those who have not figured this out I'm old school but can handle the new too.
