i leave the carpet out at all times, and let the rain/hose wash out through the drain plugs. i do live in gerogia so there is no rust problems.
make sure you have some moderate tools for any kind of repair, of course all depending on the caliber of off-road you will be. it would be a good idea to put the jeep up on jack stands after the trip and take the wheels off and clean the brakes, especially the rear drums so they don't rust or get rocks and other corrosive things in them. good luck

Bring emergency rain ponchos (or at least one for the wife). I keep a waterbottle with the pop open top (or a dishwashing soap bottle full of water) with me to squirt the windshied. It works way better than the washer pump. Bug spray is golden. Cheap wet wipes for poison ivy laiden legs.A happy woman = great wheeling. ![]() Have a blast! |

Lets see tools, some straps and a friend with his truck or jeep. Asfor the seats mine are vinal so i dont think a lil water would hurt them. (i hope not) a lil trick is get a gallon size zip lock bag for you registration and insurence as well as cell phone etc. to keep them dry.

I usually crawl under the Jeep and make sure everything drivetrain and suspension wise is still tight, and if it can be lubed it is. I check the fluid levels, top off the windshield washer fluid if need be. Check all lugnuts, make sure they haven't worked themselves loose. Basically I look for the surprise before it's a surprise. I do this both before and after the trip.
I carry a duffle bag of tools...wrenches, sockets, hammers, screwdrivers, all sorts of stuff. PB Blaster and WD-40 are always in there, as is a good size roll of duct tape...I prefer black. A set of jumper cables are always under my seat. Extra fuses in the glove box, for lights, cb and stuff. I have a shop light that plugs in to the lighter/outlet. I've been lucky enough not to need any of this stuff, but I have been able to loan some of these things to fellow jeepers. Oh and a hi-lift jack and a snatch 'em strap are a must too. I also have a blanket, dog bowl and dog treats...just in case I bring my dog. I've even been able to help a fellow jeeper with the dog bowl and treats too. After my last trip I will be adding a plastic tarp (to lay on when working under the jeep on wet ground..saw a fellow jeeper laying in a puddle while changing a drive shaft), a bag of assorted zip ties (just because you never know), and a cheater bar to put on the end of a wrench (also needed by the fellow jeeper laying in the water). I'm looking for a spare rear axle shaft for the D35, but hoping I won't need it. I'm sure there's tons more I could have with me, but I also rely on my fellow Jeepers to have what I may have forgot...heck we can't carry it all by ourselves, but together we can have it all. |

if you havent already, removing your trac bars and disconnecting your swaybar will give you much better articulation off road and help you keep all wheels on the ground.
some other stuff i bring with me... tire deflator tool, portable air compressor, tow strap, d-rings, tools, extra oil, transmission fluid, gear oil, lots of water, hi-lift jack, bottle jack, spare tire, folding shovel, lots of flashlights, sleeping bags and tent (just in case) lost of extra food and snacks, tarp, straps to tie all my stuff down, first aid kit, jumper cables, camera, and a pretty lady.

Also carry stuff like you are planning to camp. Food, water, toilet paper, lighter, flashlight, blankets. I glad it was not cold when we stuck two jeeps about 11:00 at night and worked on till 4:00 AM. Decided to sleep and wait for daylight to see what our next plan is.
Also tow cable / strap and snatch block. Be sure to have another vehicle or two to go with you. |

pretty much what everyone else said. LOTS of water, grease up everything, make sure the joints all appear in good shape, tools tools tools or ride with someone who is an independence freak like me that carries spare everything. Make sure your battery is secure, lots of problems from a bouncing battery including fires.

I keep a few road flares with me... not to use as designed. use them to start fires if you need to set up camp, wet wood is no match for a flare.... ask me how I know

Depends on the calibar of the trail. I only go to distant places with another rig, and only go alone when I am a short phone call away for help.
check fluids, u-joints and any recent repair jobs. Bring a tow strap, simple tool box, shovel and wd40 for when you get water in the distributer cap.
