PPO wires or OEM don't know

Hello again hello,

Second time poster, long time jeeper.

I am replacing the AC in my 1994 Jeep Wrangler YJ today. I also decided to remove the partially removed alarm from a previous, pervious owner (PPO).

I was able to get the bulk of the crap wires out and was able to still start the jeep .

I still have two unresolved wires / light holder thing. Attached are fantastic photos that may help figure out where they went. The two wires to the right are orange and black and attach to the wire loom. The others to the left are for a bulb, the blue thing is a tap from the PPO.

If I am not mistaken the orange and black went to the cigarette lighter. The light holder thing is exactly that, a light holder. Most older jeeps that I have seen don't have the door pins anymore. But he tapped into the light for his alarm. It is probably like my remote starter I have now. The door has to open and close in order to set the starter, seeing as how this one was an alarm, it was more than likely to tell the alarm the door was opened. Anyway the light socket just mounts under the dash with a screw.

The lighter plug should be red and black. The orange and black should be for a dash light. Maybe the heater? Or is it to light the AC?
Get out a test light and see if it comes on with the parking lights as I think it will.

Or, if you can take some photos of the harness it leads to, I may be able to reverse trace it from there.

Hmmm... never seen a light in the ash tray before.

As for the light, you know it bolts under the dash edge at the very left side, right? I would have to look, but I am pretty sure that outer wire on the lamp harness is the ground for the interior light's for the dash (not parking, but door switch lights)

Orange and black cigarette lighter.

That socket is just a light socket for when the doors are open or you rotate your panel lights all the way up.
Pictures below of where I spliced into the cigarette lighter for my power plug as I didn't need a cigarette lighter.

Looks like the orange wire are indeed interior lights, as the get 12 volts when the lights are on.

Little update on the Air Conditioner installation.
Lot of "might as wells" attacked me this weekend, cleaned and painted rusted battery mounting stuff.
Found a leak in the heater core, found one at autozone and replaced it.
Now I am finishing up the Air, have to take out the radiator again to get to the condenser to put the hoses on correctly. Then electrical hookup.

Oh and I found a couple goodies in the heater.

AC Question. I have a 2.5L 4 banger engine.

I just got the AC up and running, blowing cold air and I am happy.

Except when idling, then the AC kicks on the Jeep wants to stall.

What should I look at?

What are your rpms at idle?

bumped the idle from 700 to 1000-1100 and it works much better. Thanks for the idea/guidance bigbodds1030.

Bill.
I think there may be more to it. The rpms should be around 700. There may be an underlying problem here. I don't have an ac so I am not sure what effects it has on rpms normally. But I am pretty sure it is drawing too much power. Hopefully someone with an ac can chime in in this.

The A/C should trigger the idle to raise when you turn it on. Just like if you turn your steering wheel at an idle the RPMs will jump a little to keep the engine from stalling.

1995 YJ. 2 inch BDS Spring lift. 1 inch shackle lift. 1.25 inch JKS Body Lift 33x12.5x15's. Engo 10,000 pound winch.

I have an aftermarket AC unit in there now I did have a factory one in when I purchased the jeep last month.

The compressor blew up sending metal though out the system and it was cheaper to purchase a new from jeep air.

The jeep air unit doesn't have the wiring to connect to make the idle change. Is there an easy way to resolve this?

Leave your idle a bit high? I guess it's not going to mess anything up, just be more gas is all. At least you know what the issue is.
