Power steering pump noise? (How much?)

I expect some noise from my power steering, but how much is too much? I can hear it over the engine it almost sounds low on fluid. COuld I have air in the lines? I read to jack up the front end and turn from side to side like 20 or 30 times then check the level. The noise is louder than the engine its not a squeeling just almost like a growl....enough to annoy.

Would a new pump fix the problem?

You should not hear any noise from your power steering pump, with the exception of holding the steering wheel hard at the wheel stops and then its only normal to have a very slight growl. Sounds like it is time to replace that pump.

"CarDone" fully remanufacturers their pumps. I have had good luck so far with theirs.
