Then you're going to need a remote reservoir.

I pulled the trigger on this. I'll start looking for a reservoir throughout the week.

Sounds like a plan. If you need help installing it, I only live down the way.

I used the pump with the res on it in my 94- bolted right up no clearance issues at all. Used XJ gearbox and lines too.

I really hope that's true about being able to use the pump with attached reservoir. I have one sitting in my garage from a 4.0 but with a v-belt pulley. So if I change the pulley and put a drop pitman, I should be good to go?

I do not have any pictures at the moment but i will see if I can get some and post them tonight when I am working on the beast. I can't remember off hand what Jeep (XJ or YJ) my pump came off of- it was in a friends box of spares and I said I needed on so he gave it to me. The gearbox I know was from an XJ because I pulled that myself.

Right now I am not sure I can get my hood open because my Jeep is suspended from a gantry on chains so I can swap my front springs (I broke a front bastard pack so bought some Fabtech 3.5" replacements).

Cheers!

What I do know is that the 2.5L with MPFI, came from the factory with a remote reservoir.
When I did my conversion, I pulled this pump off a '86 XJ, right after I took this pic. It wouldn't fit on my Jeep.

Yeah, there's no way that would have fit on my 92 with MPI 2.5. It bearly fit without the reservoir.

Ok so I've received 1 of apparently 2 packages. The pump, and 2 lines. Still waiting on the actual steering box (you know, the part that costs the most money out of all this..) to arrive. I guess the people I ordered from like to cut down on shipping charges by stuffing things in flat rate boxes...and of course USPS' tracking system isn't the best, all I can see in the 'details' is that the second box has departed Philadelphia, and that's it.

I'm also in the process of doing this upgrade. I have a 91 that is without power steering. I am installing a dodge gear box that I got from a local JY. Do I need to purchase a new power steering Pitman arm or can I use the arm that is on my manual steering box?

thanks,

I'm not speaking from personal experience, because when I did the upgrade, I used an XJ box that had the dropped pitman arm already attached. But from what I have read here, you will need a PS pitman arm.

Thanks, I'll start looking around for P/S one.

At what point in lift height do you need a taller pitman? Mine, now that it has settled in is about 2.75" over stock. Everything else is stock.
