Pot Hole and Blown Fuel Pump Fuse

.. Can anyone tell me why, when i pull out the Auto Shutdown Relay my Fuel Pump Fuse does not blow? I can hear the fuel pump prime , but does not start of course because the Auto Shutdown Relay is out. But as soon as i put Relay back in (new one) and try to start it, the Fuel Pump Fuse blows.

92/4.0 Litre

I would leave the Auto Shut relay on, pull the fuel pump relay, and jump the fuel relay with a wire to see if you can get it to pump with the auto shut relay in. If it does, try the horn relay where your fuel relay is. You may have a bad relay.

Both relays are good. I put new ones in just in case! :-)

That fuse supplies power to more then just the fuel pump. The ASD relay piggybacks it's coil feed off the fuel pump output feed to several other feeds. Your coil, injectors, heated O2 sensors and the alternator feed all get power though it. I would start by disconnecting the connectors to all of them and one by one connecting them until the fuse blows.

Thanks for the help. I found the problem to be a wire rubbing on the exhaust pipe. .... With this Auto Shut Down Relay wired to every god damn thing in the truck this was a ***** to find. Damn glad it didn`t fry the commuter.

The Princesses Chariot is now back on the road , the suns shining , the Jeep is dirty and she is smiling ! .... Now if she can only keep up with my /74 Land Crusier i would be smiling!

Where was it running on the exhaust?
