My oil pressure gauge used to just sit at 40 but recently it has started to fluctuate. It goes a little under 40 at idle and goes up to about 60 when under load. Not sure if this normal or could be the indication of a problem. Does anyone have insight into this? Thanks.

Fluctuating oil pressure is normal. As an engine get some miles on it the oil pressure values will drift apart more & your highest oil pressure reading will also fall off some. Idle oil pressure will be farther apart than 55MPH driving oil pressure. Another thing to consider is the weight of oil you run in your motor.

My '01 GC used to have ~ 60lbs+ oil pressure at hot idle when I bought it new. Oil was changed by me personally every 3k miles yet my high oil pressure reading is now ~55lbs at hot idle 70k miles later.

Sounds absolutely normal to me.

x2 of above. Sounds normal. I would be more worried about low oil pressure then anything else.
