Hi all! First, I would like to thank all for making this great website! I am new here and new to the jeep world. Always wanted a Jeep, finally got one, 1990 YJ. I am mostly going to use it for in town driving and an occasional mild off roading, very mind, no rock crawling or anything like that (yet). I have been reading a lot here, it's great! Someone gave me this Poison Spyder bumper, I really like it. I went on their website and see that they have two listed, both look the same, one shows that it fits a YJ also, the other one says it doesn't, not sure if it's just a typo there or there are two versions with the same name. Would appreciate any advise and or/comments. The distance between both connections on the bumper is 47".
Thanks much in advance,
PS - I am not very good with mechanics or installing stuff, let alone welding or modifying ;-) One thing I know I want done for sure, is move the gas filler to the side in the near future, so if this bumper covers the existing filler, that will not be an issue soon.
I used to work for poison Spyder and used to make those bumpers that one is an older jk version the mounting brackets welded inside are different than the yj/ tj version and it's wider and longer also that's a 1500 to 1800 bumper with the optional d-rings
Thanks all for the replies! Well, can't say it was free, it was a trade, but almost ;-) jj, so I guess I can't get this installed on my yj? That's sucks, I really like it, guess I will have to sell it and get something that fits! By the way, I see you're in beaumont, I work in banning!
hell.... for a cheap price (whatever the trade was worth).. it would be worth it to buy, borrow or rent a welder and fab up some mounts to make it work on the YJ....
or even take it to a decent welding shop and pay THEM to mod it for you... will still be less expensive than even a cheap bumper without a carrier
