Great write-up Louie, this is exactly what we were hoping for when we held the contest. Your Jeep looks killer in that last photo with both of the DeFenders on there, before removing them for powder coat.

The solid plates are the ones that come for free, as part of the DeFender kit. The ones with the Spyder cutout are normally sold separately. You can choose to use either or both, its up to you. Here's what Papa Smurf, our shop YJ, looks like with both plates stacked (with the spyder plate left natural aluminum):

Thanks Dusty!
I think I'm going to put the bare aluminum plate on and leave it open and see how it looks. I'm off to remove the fenders for paint.

I have always been a fan of the spyder logo. Those fenders look sweet, but I still think they woulda looked better on my jeep. Lol

Lou I think you'll be ok without something behind them, but it might be cool to put green behind them or something else. Just my two cents.

I'll take that into consideration. When are you going to update your thread BTW?

Not yet. I kept asking the guys in the shop if he stopped by and they said no. I'm hoping to get them next week. I'll definitely be asking about them.

+1 to the Fox Bros BBQ sticker. I used to live in Decatur, just a couple miles from there. Was tasty! Nice looking fenders btw, still trying to decide how I want to tackle mine. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Fox Brothers is awesome. You can actually feel your heart slowing down from the greasy goodness. Those fried pickles were off the chain.
I can't wait to see the final product as well. I haven't been able to catch the sandblast guy. He's either been to work really early or after 5. He may be avoiding me.
