please help

i drove my jeep this morning and ran fine went to start it this evening an it won't start checked fire timing etc..but noticed i could not hear the fuel pump kick on as i did this mornin can the fuel pump just quit like that..

Yea they can quit without notice. But check your fuse an check the fuel pump relay. If those are good then it's probably the pump. Hope it's not a full tank. They get heavy quick.

Well haven't had chance to check codes yet but fuses an relays are good weird thing is after i checked them it started fine an now its back to not starting so i guess ill be dropping the tank..good thing it only has 1/4 of a tank.. thanks for the help!!

You need to check the codes. There it's an important issue that relates to the codes. You might be making more work and not solving your issue if you don't check them first.

Well went to check codes check engine light isn't on bulb blown so i put new one in an check engine light still ain't on any advice

that is exactly what I was looking for. There is a problem with the ecu. The input power caps blow and the ecu lite not coming on is the indicator. You have 2 choises. Either replace the input caps or buy a replacement ecu. You don't have an issue with your fuel pump. It its controlled by the ecu and the ecu is bad.

Would that explain why it will start up just fine one time an then not start the next and also were can i find pics or diagram of end caps your talking about..an thanks alot for help im learning alot .

I'm on my cell but I think you can find it by searching the forum for brain surgery. It is the engine controller on the drivers side of the engine compartment.

The only thing i can find on driver side is were the fuse box comes through..is that what i need to replace or the computer.that is above the heater box.

Yeah if it was just a fuel pump issue it would never start back up. Ecu is probably dead.

Well i got computer out an apart can't seem to find the caps. on it. Does any body have pics of of them out of a 87 2.5.thanks
