planning on a yj build, but a different concept, need advice...

Hey! Im new here, and im planning on getting a YJ to play with. Still in high school so im not rich by any circumstances so ill be slowly doing it. First of all I plan on running 37 inch tires, either toyo open country mt's or pitbull rockers. Which do you prefer? And what am I going to have to do to barely fit them without rubbing? I want to go as low as I can to avoid rollovers. I would need to replace the axles so im debating on dana 60's or unimog 404's. Found some mogs for roughly the same cost as the 60s and they will lift the jeep 6 inches giving me greater ground clearance. That would eliminate the need for a lift kit and other modifications. But the problem is I wouldn't have the suspension articulation like other jeeps do, so should I go for clearance with the mogs or articulation with the 60s and a lift kit? And also what size of lift would I need to clear 37s? I plan on flaring the fenders about 3 inches, thinking of going with poison spyder defender 3 inch steel flares. What do you guys think of poison spyder? Haha sorry for bombarding you guys with questions.. what would I have to modify to fit the mogs under there? I'll need an anti wrap bar for sure with the leaf springs.

you've got a long way to go. you need lift just to fit drive shafts to the unimogs under your jeep. then there's the ridiculous low gearing they run.
is this going to be a trail only jeep?

no matter how you slice it, you're looking at around 10k to do what you're looking to do.

What size lift?? And why would I need one for the driveshaft? And no it'll be a daily driver but I'll rarely go over 55 anyways. Mostly around town and up in the hills.

Would it be worth the cash to go with the extra ground clearance? Im fine with saving up im not really in a hurry I Just want to make the right decision to go down that path or go with some 60's.

Not worth it really unless you plan insane wheeling. And IIRC mog axles don't have street friendly gears available.

I wouldn't consider mogs unless I was running 40+ tires. And even then I wouldn't consider them an option

Alright, that's kinda disappointing. Where's a good place to get some d60s? I want 4.56 gearing.

You will be more than happy with 60s. Mogs are also heavy as ****. They don't fit nicely under a jeep. 79 ford dana 60s practically bolt into a yj.

junkyards will have 60s, i dont recommend a 60 rear though. GM14 bolt is king of cheap beef. much stronger than a 60 rear and cheap as dirt.

research is your friend though
