Planning a snorkel
I'm not impressed with what you get for $300 with an ARB snorkel, so I'm making my own. I'm planning to have a muffler pipe bent for the snorkel itself and use a Donaldson Top-Spin precleaner to cap off the top. Here are my questions:
1. The precleaner I'm looking at is a 5 inh2o intake restriction. Is that a lot? 2. The factory air box doesn't look watertight. Besides a paint can, what are some other options? 3. Have any of you snorkeling gurus experienced intake icing in cold weather?

No, I don't plan to go that deep, but it's time to do a cold air intake. Where will you find colder air than outside the Jeep?

I went to pep boys the other day and they have tubing you can buy to fabricate a cold air intake and they also have chrome pipe that you can buy. I figured I'd make a nice chrome snorkel.

Even if you don't plan to go that deep, its cheap insurance. I don't see why some people are so against snorkels...

its funny that americans( myself included) have not really seen the purpose for a snorkle. if you look at alot of over seas offroad vehicles(land rover ect) they all come with snorkles. I just find it funny that america has not "got it" yet

Hi everybody, im new to JeepForum and a first time jeep owner. But I like the idea of a snorkle, "just in case". I got lucky the Jeep I bought had one on it when I bought it.
