Pipe Burst, Know the Name?

The Pipe Leading from my CC along the passenger side up into the Carb. burst recently resulting in an obvious reduction in power.

Does anyone know this pipes name and/or part number by chance?

1990 I-6 Auto 4.2L

In the mean time a layer of aluminum held on by a "Tiger" Self-bonding patch is keeping the part in check.

part of the pulse air emissions system. nothing special about the pipe itself, just pipe. But all that stuff has to be working for the smog system. patch it if you can or splice in a piece of pipe. I doubt if you will find a replacement easily.

Yeah kinda figured it would be just pipe, ill find a interior diameter matching the outside of the broken pipe eventually I suppose.

As for the thread thanks for linking it! Me and my YJ buddy are always looking for new adventures and people to meet.

I think I have seen your Jeep around (if you drive up/down the I-5 between Point Loma/Del Mar sometimes.) that or there are other white jeeps with red doors out there.

That tube system is crazy complicated with about a million parts. I ripped all mine out last year and put in a howell tbi. unfortunately I sold most the parts to someone already. I have lots of notes though on what goes where and what ir does so I may be able to help you with it.

meantime here is a source of a lot off good information.

Probably me. I live in clairemont and work in downtown, pt loma or mission valley and I do go up to carlsbad sometimes.

We have a good local group here in san diego and just had a great run thru corral canyon yesterday and planning to get in some overnight trips before it gets too hot.

TUBE-pulse air downstream #5200 2519 from a jeep parts manual BUT I would just substitute it with a piece of metallic tubing of some kind.

Copper tube with compression fittings should work

That pipe is about $40 new from the dealer. Check NAPA, they may also have a replacement available. Where did it split? You may find tubing one size bigger and clamp or weld it in place of the bad spot.

In response to Burnerman,

the pipe burst on the end closer to the CC itself, there is an L-joint like pipe coming out, and then a tiny U bolt, the burst is about 2-3inches forward from the U bolt holding the L pipe and the rest of the pipe that leads to the carb together.

So If i can't find anything at Napa, I think I will go with welding a piece of sheet metal over it if I don't just buy a similar sized one. Haven't had the time to go check out prices near home or even get to it since I started restoring a 1951 Studebaker Champion >.> (Project from a fine female friend).
