high centered, these ruts are usually filled with water, with trucks on 38"s+ going through them

and a video of me attempting it from the other direction, using my front bumper like a shovel

Sorry mo pictures but went 4 wheeling Sat night about 10PM. It has been raining all week so I knew the club area would be all muddy. Going down a trail and one area (mud hole) looked kinda deep. So I went to turn around and the front fell off into other mud hole. It was deep enough to sit the skid plate on the ground. I was stuck big time. Two other guys were with me. One of them tried to pull me out with no movement. Another guy said let me go on the side of you and get in front and try to pull you forward. Sounded good so he went around me, hooked up the tow strap and -no movement forward either. So he went to back out and his jeep sunk in the mud. Now we have two stuck jeeps.

Now we pieced together some tow straps and a come-along. Well we pulled down to small pine trees and then the come-along ended up breaking the cable. So the last guy went to Wal-Mart to get some shovels, another tow strap and another come-along. We dug and dug out the the mud than this time with the extra tow strap we hooked to a full size tree and again we snapped the cable on the new come-along. This was about 4AM now. I said let two of us stay here in the jeeps and the other guy went home (wife was with him) and we try in the morning since sunrise was about 3 hours away. The guy and his wife that went home was the one in the second jeep that was stuck. His wife had contacts and she could not stay since they were the type you have to take out. So the third guy loaned him his truck.

Slept in the jeeps last night and in the morning looked at the stuck jeeps. No way I could get these jeeps out with the equipment we had. Called a few wrecker companies and the said it would be about $300 to come out. No way I was going to do that. About 8.30 AM I ran across a guy wheeling on his ATV. Stop him and ask him if he had a truck with a winch. He said no but his buddies did. About 10:30 AM he shows up with a F250 with no winch. I was discourage and that I will be here awhile. Anyway we hook up the tow ropes and after a few tries, the first jeep came out. GREAT, now to the second jeep. However the second jeep would not move as easy. He pulled out a snatch block and hooked it up to his truck, jeep and a stump, and presto, came out easy.

What a adventure that was. If I had a winch in the front, it would not have helped. So I'm thinking about one of those receiver type hitches. I could have moved it to the rear and used it to pull myself out. Than hooked it to the other jeep and he could have done the same.

I decided from now on, I will carry some drinks, food, blanket, toilet paper and matches just in case for another unexpected camp out. Sad part about it, the guy that did not get stuck that spent the night in the jeep said this was fun and had a great time. I love camping out but sleeping in the front seat of the jeep is not as good as a bed.

As they say on Xtreame Offroad, also go with at least 3 vehicles. As Ian stated, the second vehicle will get stuck or break something so the third guy and go for help. Good Plan.
