parking brake wont work

My parking brake won't work.. Ive replaced the cables rebuilt both sides. it seems the PArking brake strut/equalizer is too short because it is very loose between the shoes.. I have 9" drum brakes on the rear

Are you adjusting it right? The Haynes manual has step by step instructions on how to adjust them. I don't remember exactly, but ill check my manual when I make it out to the jeep.

Sent from my iPhone, probably because I am bored at work.

I have the Haynes manual and adjusted it as well as I can. This is my first time with drum brakes, so I may be doing something wrong. Ive tightened the adjuster, under the driver seat, almost as tight as it can get, and it still wont pull the lever arm far enough to tighten up the equalizer bar. Also when i took the brakes apart, the equalizer bar "arch" went up, but when i put it back together, the arch had to face down or it wouldn't go in.. Thanks for the help

Here's a solution. Take it to the dealership and if the parking brake recall hasn't been done, they have to make sure everything works by law. For free.

I'm no lawyer but they have to make the adjustments to test it to complete the recall mandate.

Its worth a shot instead of going backwards and fixing it again.
