I used a foam roller and a pint of Rustoleum white high gloss enamel. Its oil based and takes a while to dry. It came out great and it was easy. The slight texture from the foam roller hides minor imperfections. Also a stronger finish than rattle can. Not a scratch yet

My top was black and changed to white. Everyone told me not do white until they saw the finished product. Now everyone loves it

I rattle canned one flat black. It turned out great.

I also put Herculiner on my current top. It looks pretty good, too.

I tried rattle can, then wound up using herculiner. A friend used the roll on method. IMO, roll on looks better, Herculiner is tough, and really hides any imperfections.

I used Gator Gaurd II bedliner on mine..its a 2 part epoxy, much better than single stage ,holds better in UV and more durable and has a better bond.
60.00 a kit,can roll on or spray on with the shultz gun,the gun only costs 25.00

I have to disagree with herculiner or any good bedliners on a hardtop being useless, its much more durable when going through tree branches and bushes on the trails ,will last MUCH longer than any paint and gives it a vinyl look with the texture it gives. It also quiets down the outside noises and helps insulate. Useless?...FAR from it...

YES,that is THEE most important thing, sand and clean VERY thoroughly or it wont last long at all,you wont get a bond and it will flake off very easily, that goes for paint and bedliner

Herc isn't very expensive, and it is a durable finish which covers flaws well, but it will be a PIA to clean if you get mud on it.
I used flat black rattlecan on a yj I had. It turned out nice
