out of commission for a while...

Well the old Jeep managed to burst into flames on me yesterday. I think it backfired through the carb lit the air filter on fire and then it started burning all the hoses and melted the valve cover. Looks like its time to get a new crate motor and transmission(:

New motor and trans because of an engine fire? You souldnt need to. Run the comprtession test on the engine. I dont know how you could have done anything to the trans at all.

Haha sounds to me like OP is using the small fire as his excuse with the wife to put in a crate V8 or something lol. If so, brilliant.

I just swapped a renix 4.0 out of an 89 cherokee into my 87 Laredo and kept it all smog legal with all factory gauges working. Let me know if you need wiring help. I had both the cherokee and yj harness layed out side by side and cut and soldered and cut and soldered until everything passed thru the stock bulkhead and connector and bolted the ecm back in the factory bracket using the same grommet whole in the firewall and all.

Throw in a small fire extinguisher as well to replace the one you spent (assuming you had one to begin with).

Lmao! That's great, just take the wife part out and fill in dad I'm only a senior in highschool. But yes I am using that as an excuse for a v8 swap!

Might as well upgrade to a v8, trans is getting replaced because the sh** a** tf999 that's in it slips constantly and I don't think it would withstand the extra power for long.
