Ordered an XD9000i today
Will be here tomorrow.
Anything to look out for on install? Seems pretty straightforward.

just make sure you ground the negative straight to the battery... NOT THE FRAME. if you do, when the winch is being used it will cause drain on the rest of your systems (i.e. flickering lights, etc). also, if your battery has aux. posts, don't use those... use the main posts. other than that it's a really simple install...
and oh ya... if its a remote solenoid (not integrated), when you are tightening the black, red, and yellow wires into the drum posts don't over-tighten them... just do it snug. if not, you can pop one of the well nuts out (ask me how i know... i did it once at work. PITA)

Pretty simple. Just wire direct to the battery like got 4 lo said.
And don't forget to tension the cable on the drum as outlined in the instructions. Very important so the cable doesn't wedge between itself & get kinked/ruined. Here's mine the day after I installed it ![]() Oh, and for fear of being flamed by the Oman-haters, I highly recommend 12voltguy.com if you're looking for an in-cab controller ![]()

Dont know if the 9000 is the same as mine, but I actually spent a while on the phone (several hours) with one of the Warn Winch builders. His recommendations were as follows.
Battery: 650 cca min. 750+ recommended Cables: 1 gauge Positive and Negative: Directly to the battery. The rest of the advice I have is specific to my winch. I had to go to my local mom and pops to find 1 guage battery cable and make the correct setup for my battery http://www.rawsoftware.com/YJ-Mule/new_batt_cables/ That write up will show how I made the cables. Those cables replaced the factory cables, and added the cables for the winch. I used a marine top post battery stud, in the pictures. I soldered my own tips on, and used self sealing shrink tubing. There will be more pics later so you can check back later if you wish. Also there will be a winch hookup article, and a dual battery writeup. Good Luck with your winch, and be safe.
