Older style CJ doors on a YJ

I have a chance to get the old style (pre 1981) CJ doors for my YJ. These are the the lever type door handle. Has anyone used them on their YJ?

I am looking at them on craigslist, don't know what the latches look like on the old style, although it looks like it just has a small metal stop as opposed to the post striker on my YJ, so I know I'll have to fab something up.

The latches are different. The YJ post may be in the way. Search on the forum, I think there is some info with some fabricated latchwork with pics.

You might want to google or search this forum to see if the pre 1981 cj doors will fit the YJ also before you buy....

they will fit i had them last year. You have to take the yj latch off and fab up your own door strike. Mine lined up pretty good.

I'm willing to bet they can be made to work but as previously mentioned you'll need to do some fab work. I don't think anyone makes the old style latch plate anymore.

Thanks for the help and great photos, much appreciated. I'm in the process of getting the doors from a guy on Craigslist.

My Thanks as well. I just traded for a couple of CJ doors, I like the "old style" look of the exterior handles. I was a little concerned about the strikers. It looks like something I can fabricate without too much toruble.

Short-term you can just use the tub and the doors will latch. They will rattle like hell but keep you warm and dry.
