oil pressure

Hello all. I have a 95 yj that had a 2.5 in it. That motor went south so I rebuilt a 97 tj motor, a 2.5, and installed it. Everything works except the oil pressure gauge which is pegged out any time the switch is on. I read online to test the gauge by grounding it, etc. The test indicated the oil pressure sending unit was bad. I replaced it and gauge is still pegged out. The gauge was pegged out when the old engine was in it. It sounds like the gauge is bad even though the grounding test indicated it was good. Any ideas? Thanks, Jerry

I would try another sending unit I went through three of them before I got one that worked.

I bought the premium quality sending unit but it may not be any good. The fact that the gauge acted the same with the old engine makes me think there may be some other issue. If there were a good location I would put in a mechanical setup that I bought for this jeep. I just hate to start sticking gauges on the dash. Thanks for the input. Jerry
