Oil Dipstick

I am getting an oil leak from the dipstick tube on my 88 Wrangler with a 258. I ordered a new dipstick from the dealership part #33004796. I went to install it last night and its way too long. I honestly cant tell if the one that was in it is the origional one or not. its about 6 inches shorter that the new one. The one that was in it was not normal looking. There is a washer looking thing on the top but no seal. I can take pics when I get off work if needed. Anyone else ran into this before?
