it's an automatic (non electric) choke. The threaded nipple behind it would get hooked up to a heatriser mounted to the exhaust manifold on a ford, and the heated air from the exhaust manifold would go up the tube and heat the spring in the choke housing, thus opening the choke. I plugged mine and run a manual choke

so i doooo need to cut and wrap that wire? makes sense because i never had it hooked up and it ran fine( well it idled high, so when EVERYONE told me i needed it i figured that was why) cool also... do i need to plug anything??? does it make a difference? if so what do i plug?

just for my knowlege bank, what different kinds of chokes are there? how could you tell it was automatic (non electric) why are allllllllllllll other mc2100's people use on this forum electric with that male connection

what did i do wrong, haha

well thats good news i guess ill cut and tape that wire up...

now all i need to know is how much is a manual choke, and if i DONT buy one right away what else do i need to do to this jizunk?

My opinion - find the elec choke conversion and convert it. One less worry on a daily basis. But that's me.

A manual universal type kit will probably be less than half the cost, but it will get you going in the right direction.

The lead that came stock on the jeep won't work with a "stock" motorcraft electric choke, you'd have to run a switched 12 volt source. That lead was controled by the processor, and since you managed to melt everything under the hood with your shady wiring job i'd say we could count that one out Manual choke kits are like 10 bucks at any parts store. You could also get an electric choke kit at any parts store for around the same price. So you're either gonna have to run the manual choke cable, or a switched 12 volt source, but i prefer the manual because it gives you much more control. Not difficult at all, just follow the instructions that the kit comes with. As for plugging the ports, i did, just to prevent water intrusion or spiders.

while you're at it, scrap those yellow electro-vacume clutterbugs on the firewall.
