OFFICIAL mc2100 (non emissions) thread if you have done it get in here.
hey guys ive made post after post with specific problems of my mc2100, for some reason its not been an easy swap for me, like it seems to be for everyone else...
this thread will help me and hopefully anyone coming after me who does this. and any problems that anyone ever runs into will be in here and with some searching can be answered in this thread hopefully. anyone who has done this non emissions (so we're on the same page) can and would be appreciated if they could just post pics, different angles of how they have it hooked up. and problems they ran into etc. what im struggling with now is: there is a blue wire with a spade connector on it, i believe it was the electric choke on the carter bbd, and i have had mixed opinions some say, my mc2100 has a spot for it to hook right here on the choke. other say cut the wire and tape it off... i dont see anywhere on my choke for this wire to clip or go. people who have done this do you know what im talking about 2nd the car is diseling bad like 10-15 seconds after cut off, so many people say its carbon buildup, and that makes sense however when you have a perfectly running jeep one day, and you do the carb upgrade and the very next day you crank and cut it off, and it diesels like that, i think something else is wrong, anyone have dieseling issues? discuss anything mc2100 related, apparently you cant learn too much about this carb, i still havent got mine hooked up and its driving me insane...anyone with pics of that electric wire, or what they did or hooked it to would help. also what other lines did you guys have hooked up?? dizzy advance and pcv is all i have i know im missing at least one more... maybe thats my dieseling prob. what else hooks up thanks again for anyone help or contribution to this thread happy jeepin ![]()

sry i don't have a mc2100, i have the 32/36 weber, although with dieseling, it is soemtimes caused by running rich, if you have to much gas going into the carb. it can cause it to try and keep running, it happened to me when i turned down my idle screw but forgot to adjust the mixture screw, try some seafoam to clear out your carb. and engine, put some in the oil, and then the rest in the carb. put it in the carb. while its running, pour it in slowly, and then when u've put about 1/3 of the bottle in pour it in fast to stall the engine. let it sit for 5-10 minutes, start it back up and watch the smoke POUR out of the tail pipe, its normal, and exciting to watch.

yeah im very familar with seafoam, i prefer adding it through the brake booster, then some in the oil and a little in the gas, but im gonna try to fix the dieseling (to the best i can anyway) before i do it because i have a fresh oil change, and your not supposed to run sea foam, unless your nearing an oil change or else the sludge and carbon just goes into the oil pan and all the deposites keep running through the engine me and you need to get up sometime just so i can look around your engine bay. did you install the weber or was it on there?

what are you idling at. Should be around 6-700 with the mc2100. anything higher than that , i'd say about 1000, would cause dieseling when you kill it. Mine purrs at 600.

im pretty sure mine does too, i havent converted to manual choke, so.... where did you hook your electric choke at??? there is no stud or clip on my elec. choke on my carb... just trying to figure out where this wires goes btw drexel i NEVER thought about that... it does idle very high and it hasnt been timed yet because... well you havent been updated. since you have helped me so much before ill explain... i nuttered it... (or so i thought) i think it had already been nuttered (up inside the harness) for some reason the previous owner did a lot of hacking at the wire harness i guess all the nutter was inside the loom and not right at the dizzy or icm to be seen... i think anyway also my elec choke wire grounded out when i cranked it up and melted. it melted to like 4 other wires, which i had to pull apart and wrap to make sure they were insulated... so everything is ready to be cranked and timed when i figure out where this elec choke clip goes... as you know i know nothing about carbs, once i time it to 9-11* and its still on high idle (which i think it will be, because i was timing it by ear before the harness melted and it was still idleing high) is there an idle screw? where is it? is it cool to mess with or should i leave it alone?, which way do i turn it?

My electric choke wire is green with a white stripe that plugs into the side of the electric choke that has a small metal plug sticking out from the bottom side of the choke assembly. I have my idle set at 650 rpm. Recently the wire came off of my electric choke causing the choke to stay on which would idle my engine at about 1100 rpm and when I turned it off it would cause the diesling like you described. I think if you figure out the correct wire to connect your choke you should be good to go.

I'm glad you started this thread. I just bought my motorcraft from the ebay guy. Got it hooked up and at first when the timing was set at 9* at 1600 rpm(according to the tach gauge) It would idle fine but if you drove it and pushed the pedal past 1/4 it would bog down. I came back and reset the timing at 9* at idle and it runs very good. However I may be having a problem withe choke also b/c even with backing out the idle screw all the way it now idles at 900-1k.
I did find a little clip on the side of the choke. If you are facing the the engine from the front of the carl the choke is on the left side with the clip on the left side facing down. Where did you get the choke and carb from? I will try to take a pic and post if on here if I can figure out how. Do you have a picture of your choke? We'll get these things figured out. |

I have an 87 4.2. I think the prev owner screwed up the 4x4 vacuum hoses b/c the green and yellow hoses are just coming up from the diff but don't go anywhere. That is another topic though! I believe you should not try to set the timing with the dist vacuum hooked up. Cap off the dist port at the carb and cap the hose coming out of the dist when you are setting the timing. |
