I'll an OBD 2 scanner read the codes on a 94 YJ with the 4.0?

No because the OBDII didn't come out till '96. You can read the code via the ignition switch and dash lights. I'll see if I can find you a link.

Edit: Here ya go...

I've just been through a huge computer problem on my 94 and there is a OBD1 plug under the hood. OBD1 reader will work on it with the proper plug adaptor. I just bought and OBD1&2 reader with plugs for about every application for about $140

94 Wrangler SE, 4.0, Auto, SYE, Hard top, 31X10.5X15, 3" Skyjacker, 8.8 w/ disc brakes. 06 Grand Cherokee stock.

I just got a live scan OBD2 reader for like 60 bucks more. Best tool investment I've made so far.

No way is a OBD II compatible with a OBD I. The bus used is totally different. The OBD I Jeep was CCD and SCI bus while the OBD II was a standardized bus call J1850. Besides we don't need no stinking code reader...we have the CEL to see the fault codes.

Not when your running a 98 Vortec V6 with a functioning OBD2 system

Well I finally fixed my prob !!! It was the idle speed control motor on the throttle body, for future reference that one thing was showing my map sensor, TPS sensor and o2 sensor to be bad ! But it was just that one sensor !! Thanks for all the input .
