nv3550 shifter ?

I did a search but didn't find really anything to answer my question. I'm replacing my ax-15 sometime in the next couple of weeks, I'm just still trying to decide with what. It's either a nv3550 or a 700r. I've seen some write ups on the nv3550 and it seems pretty much like a bolt up, my question is about the shifter, if the trans is donated from a TJ, why won't the TJ shifter handle work?

who said it wont?? i'd think all you'd have to do is maybe remake the metal plate under the carpet on the tunnel with the hole in the right spot for the new shifter...
thats what i did when i did the motor/tranny swap and used a b&m cable shifter....

just wondering, every thread I have seen says you have to modify the yj shifter, I thought maybe they didnt line up the same. If I go that route I'll get the shifter also. Thanks
