There is a lot of play in this gear for center of pump, does anyone know if this is normal?

These two yellow lines is the "play" in the gear. When securing shaft, the gear has approx. this much play. Anyone know if this is normal?

There is play in the chain as the cover is not centering shaft.

I did notice the chain was binding on the gear when i was rotating gears, but then realized that the shaft is not centered on the gears, and was too far in causing binding, pull the shaft out some and it is fine.

should the pumps center gear have that much play in it? And the two yellow lines on the gear in the picture, should that gear have that amount of play?

These are pictures of the driveshaft that came with the 231, so you can see why I have concerns, it took on a few rocks.

Finishing a 4.0 Cyl.head swap, Just got an AX-15 NP231J combo to replace the busted t-case and craptacular BA10/5. Adding Nutter bypass. Probably more to come before it is back as a DD!
