nutter bypass help/ ICM Bypass

hey guys,

Quick question! its to my understanding that the nutter bypass, bypasses the ignition control module. I have an 89 2.5 tbi and i was just seeing if you could use the nutter bypass on it, or is it just for the 4.2...?

and if not, is there anyway to bypass the ICM on the 2.5, because this is the second one thats gone bad on me and im getting tired of dishing out a hundred bucks every few years..

thanks all!

First some clarification - The Nutter Bypass takes the 4.2L computer (Engine Control Module) out of the loop. The computer partially controls the timing advance using knock sensor data.

Second - The ICM (Ignition Control Module) is responsible for sending the spark signal to the distributor. If you take it out of the loop, no more sparky.

If you don't want to try another factory style ICM, you can try an aftermarket style like what is offered by MSD.
