Np231

I posted a thread earlier about a transmission swap earlier and didn't get too much of a response. I just recently bought an 87 wrangler and it has the nv3550 and Np231 out of a 2001 wrangler. That has the electrical sender for the speedometer. I cant find an adaptor and was wondering if anyone had the mechanical sender I need (will buy if someone has) or info. Any help is appreciated, finally got it running today

Marty

If no one has one I believe you can get a sender for a 1991 wrangler. It will have both electric and mechanical connections for the transfer case end.. (you wont need the electric part)

Where would I be able to buy that from? A junk yard or is there an actual site that would sell the sending unit..

I bought one like this 6 months ago from Oreillys.

Or is this not what you're looking for?

I think thats what I'm looking for, and that should fit right into place where this is located? This just a picture from the internet, my wires are currently cut.

After looking again that piece wont work. have the gear in the transfer case for the speedo but need the piece that would replace the electric sender with the cable. That piece would have worked if I was trying to go the other way. I need the sending unit out of a 87-91 np231 i think.

Try www.daveysjeeps.com, they have them for about $35.00.
