My friend has a 1989 YJ with a 4 Inch lift on it. He wants to know if you need to do a SYE conversion when you get a new driveshaft.

I've never seen this question on the forum so I assumed it wasn't normal.

Yes a SYE is some of the best money your "friend" will spend on his jeep..

I thought this wasn't a normal question?

You should have an SYE with that much lift and a new driveshaft is needed. It is a shaft that has a Double Cardan that bolts to the SYE. Check here for the shafts http://www.4xshaft.com/

You need a new driveshaft when you get a SYE. Start with SYE then choose the driveshaft to match. Not the other way around.
