Not charging/ Check engine light

the CEL came on and I noticed that my voltage was low.
I broke out my charger that has a charging system tester and it showed a big fat goose egg (0). I had the altenator tested and it was good.
I was unable to find a voltage regulator and was told, by the parts store and the dealership, that the voltage regulator is in the ECU.

my question is could it be something else?
how often have you seen the ECU going out for the voltage regulator?

Thanks,

its more common to find the 2 fuses blown for the alternator then the ECU bad.

Check those first.

Did you only have one parts house test it?
We have seen several times where 1 said it was good and the next one said it was shot.
Some of those testers aren't very accurate.
We just went thru this on another thread in here.
Look thru the search feature and you will see what I mean.
I'm at work at the moment and don't have my book with me. I'm sure you can find it if you use the search tool at the top center of the thread list.
Happy hunting and sorry I couldn't help anymore than this for now.
Another tip for finding out if it is indeed the alt. Check your cel codes and see if you are getting an alt. field code, if so then I would go buy a new alt.

Thanks for the info.

i am getting the 41 alt field code

is there a difference between the 75 and 90 amp alt other than the amp difference?
I pulled out he fuses yesterday and none seemed to be bad.
