Noob bumper question. Stinger?

What exactly is a bumper "Stinger " used for?

Thanks.

There was a thread about this not too long ago. Most of the time they are used for looking tough at the mall but I believe they were originally designed to prevent forward flops and protect the hood/grill during a slow roll.

I keep seeing "roll over protection" but I had always thought they were designed to get the taller under brush to deflect under the tires rather than under the drive train where it'll try to snap upwards

Yea I've heard before that they're to prevent and or shield the front of the jeep in a front roll over but I thought that I also heard something about them being used to get the correct angel when going up a hill or something like that. But I have seen then help in a roll over, the bumper at least saved the guys radiator.

I've heard of two uses, but I think they are mostly cosmetic. For them to be functional, it seems like they would have to be built stronger.

1) prevent front tip overs

2) it can be used as a bit of a ramp in order to get up taller obstacles. I've never seen this, and it sounds like wishful thinking.

Again, I think they are mostly cosmetic...

1. To knock the beer out of hand as some sucka walks too close

2. To ruin the looks of an otherwise good looking Jeep

Yours looks good.
It isn't like the ones you see parked sideways at Wal-Mart.
