Noisy fuel pump - vapor lock?

Occassionally when I am offroad and in the mountains the fuel pump is really noisy (hear it whining and humming constantly). It has never happened on the highway or around town. Could it be the Jeep is trying to vapor lock when driving slow and getting warm (no it's not overheating)and causing the fuel pump to work hard?

Opinions and experiences on a solution would be appreciated!
