Noise in motor

Hi Guys...& Gals

When I start my 90 Jeep in the morning I hear this clicking sound coming from the 2.5 engine. When the Jeep gets warm the loud clicking goies away. What do you guys think it is and what should I do?

do the seafoam or mystery oil treatment in your crankcase. It usually is a lifter tick. Thats what I did and mine went away. I did the seafoam and when I changed the oil I put in mystery oil. Havnt heard it since.

You spray the ants before they get in your house.
You plant the crops before you starve.
And you keep the terrorists in check before you get your *** blowed off.

Agree with Rebuild on lifter tap. Had the same problem a while back. Not a fan of throwing mystery crap through the Jeep so I replaced the valve lifters. Theyre around $5 a pop and relatively easy to replace.

My 4.0L sounds like a diesel. It has ever since I bought it. When I bought it had 150k now 10 years later with 295k it still runs strong.

Sorry, its marvel mystery oil. You can get it anywhere, even Dollar General. Works pretty descent, I think even Mean Max said he uses it every time he changes his oil

That would have been my next step if this wouldnt have worked. Sometimes the lifters just get gunked up. I did this to save time and money. Didnt want to change it if I didnt have to.

Ya but don't overfill. If your oil level is already where it needs to be, drain a quart before adding a quart.

if you use the marvel mystery oil, it will be o.k. to run it for a while until the next oil change. Just follow instructions on the bottle

If you do the seafoam, your gonna have to change the oil at about 100 miles to be safe. and seafoam is only 1/3 of the can in the crankcase. Just follow instructions on the bottle.
