no fuel on start up! HELP ME!!!

95 yj 160k 4cyl having a hard time starting.

so im cranking the **** out of my jeep to get it running. eventually it will turn over but im not hearing the pump purge which i think it normally does when i turn the key forward. ive tried to turn the key on and off a few times but nothing is working. once its up and running and i shut id down for a few mins it will start right bakc up but if it sits for more then an hour it will not start. its as if its not pumping or the fuels backing out of the line somehow. i have a feeling the pump is shot but on the other hand once it starts up and i drive it fine. so do i need a new pump or is it something else? i did replace this pump less then a year ago but hey from offroading it could be shot again. please help me! thanks

I've had this happen twice. One was the fuel pump, the other was the relay. Check your wiring its fairly easy....they run down the frame on the drivers side. Turn your key on see if the pump has power immediately. Secondly see if you have pulse at the injectors...(make sure they are firing). If all is well I would change the fuel pump. Don't forget...if you have a leaky injector, it will let the fuel pressure drop as it sits....let us know...

Does your CEL come on when you turn the key on?

so i am assuming my issue may be electrical...if i get the jeep to fire up then i shut it down the pump turns on right away. however if i let the jeep sit for like 20mins or more then turn the key to on i will not hear the pump purge the lines. if i leave the key in the on position for a few mins the pump will then purge but under the hood im hearing a very loud clicking noise as if my battery just died kinda noise. i just replaced the pump and that didnt solve my issue what so ever. it was under warrenty so no biggie. i just cant figure out what the hell the problem could be that it wont start if it sits for a while. this got so bad that it wouldnt start at all. HELLLLP ME!!!

do a search on long cranking when cold. I think your experiencing the problems many people have had with the capacitors in the ECM. There is a thread on how to diagnose this problem here on the board. Im sure if you search for it you will find it. They are not that expensive to change.

Mjmpc no cel question x 2. No cel then search for ecu brain surgery. It sounds like bad caps.
