new to YJ, sold TJ and need help

i know nothing about leaf springs( i warn you)well heres the deal, i just sold my TJ and i bought a YJ just for the summer, then when i have enough im buying the TJ i want. but untill then i been working hard on my YJ to getting it looking like new again and to get me through the same places my TJ did.

my dad has a pair of tires for me that he got for a steal, im not sure how big they are but i did take a tape measure and it said 31"..so yea...BUT they are 16" rims so im out looking for a cheap pair of steelies. and well i know they wont fit under the jeep, it will rub when im offroading.

im not keeping the jeep for a long time so i dont want to but much money at all into it. so how can i get a few inchs out of her? i dont like the idea of the shackle lift, because i will loose alot of approch angle, and it looks bad. my dad said something about a coil over? and a rear shackle flip or something. i tryed doing a search but it doesnt solve my problems.

information on them? like how it works and stuff if you could
can i make these?
how much does it cost?
what are the downfalls of having this?

Coilover is going to kill your wallet. Body lift is an easy and cheap way to get a couple of inches of lift. I wouldn't put more than 2" of body lift on your Jeep though.

The shackle reversal will get you about 2 inches of lift (I believe) and will make your Jeep ride softer. The only downfalls to shackle reversal are spring wear is sped up and nosedives while braking are common.

Leaf springs rock.

If you're looking for a cheap short term gain of a few inches, I would get a 2" BL.

Look at your suspension and then think about your sold tj's suspension, if you notice there is alot stuff missing on your yj. to do a coil over you will have to put all that crap that was on your tj and more, you see leaf springs do everything that your coils and control arms did on your tj. and I have never heard of a rear shackle flip.

What are you wanting to do? Do you just want enough lift to clear 31's and not rub? If so I would buy some cheap steel rims with about 3.5" of backspacing and do a 1" body lift and a put some tj flares on and cut the body. you may still rub a little but not much. That would probably be the cheapest route

spring over and coil over are 2 completely different beasts.

spring over means you cut off your spring perches from the axle and remount them on top of the axle instead of below the axle. This moves your leaf springs to over the axle instead of under which is where the term spring over comes from. but there are about 100 other things that you will have to do and this is not cheap or a simple job.

I am not trying to be a jerk but please use the search feature. search shackle reversal and spring over and you will find alot of info here. neither one of those 2 things are easy and cheap to do.
