New member and new YJ

Well, been a full size bronco guy for a while now and recently picked up a 91 YJ, 4.0, auto, 3.5" lift, LED tail lights and some rust. Runs great, drove it home the first day on the freeway and all. Here are some pictures of her when I first brought her home.

Since then I have replace the dash, old one was rusted out pretty bad. Ground down all the rust on the body and frame. Primed it and its ready for paint this weekend. The new paint scheme is going to be flat black with gloss black flames on hood. (I know flames, but trust me with the flat and gloss black combo going to look sweet.)

Near future plans are to rebuild the spring packs, got a couple of spring packs laying around the garage, 1.25" shackles, ford super duty shock mounts, 35-37" tires. Far future 78-79 ford full size dana 44 coil sprung and 9" rear. Let me know what you guys think and any advise you can give would be appreciated.

Really haven't thought that far into it about the TC, I have a ford np205 in my garage that I have been thinking about. What else do jeepers run that would be a strait forward swap with breaking the bank? Gears probably a 4.88 or 5.13.

Gotcha, I know exactly where. Are you a member of any clubs yet? I just joined one about a month ago, Northern Illinois Extreme Jeep Club, still have not gone out on any trail rides or meetings yet, got a little more work to do on my rig, but I'm looking to see if there are any other jeepers around the aurora area.

No clubs yet. I am in the same area as you with my Jeep got some more to be done. Can I get some more info on the Northern Illinois Extreme Jeep Club, cause I am looking for a Club. I some times go to the trail near my house if you know what I mean, do you know of any other places near us that we can just get the tires wet?

Status Update: I just finished painting the Jeep. I still have yet to pull the tape off. I will post pics soon.

Got the paint laid down. Painted the frame, under, side and body. Got to get some better pics so you can see the flames better. I am really happy with it and thought it turned out better than I thought with a rattle can. Diamond plate to come to cover up some of the through holes.

P.S. can someone post these, thanks.

That's sick--did you sand it down and prime it or just scuff it?

Edit: NM just saw the original post. Nice work!

Yeah, I ground down the rusted spots and the nasty previous owner patch work with gasket sealer. Primed those areas and then sanded the rest of the paint with 220 grit. I did it myself in my garage. Thanks for the compliments. This weekend is the inside of the tub with duplicolor liner. I used it before on my bronco and its held great going on two years.
