Yeah all you gotta do is change the front and rear diff yolks and get different drive shafts and different yolks for the front t-case outputshaft.
It's not just a matter of putting different joints in as they wont fit in your drive shaft.
It's not worth the trouble, just get the stock one's and don't believe people who don't know the facts.
No dis to Zonawrangler but he doesn't understand the dynamics of this stuff.

Also, I know that my 95 2.5L 4 banger, with a Helix TBS and an AEM Brute Force cold air intake, platinum plugs, Accel wires ... it does 95 MPH on the freeway, and gets 21+ MPG in the summer, in the city, with the AC blasting.

But ... yer talking like $500 in mods, and it still wont be as fast as a 6 cyl.

Far as EFI goes ... the MPG on the 4.0 is not much differnt from the 2.5. Like anything else, it depends how you drive it. Keep your foot out of the pedal.

Point is ... for the pre EFI 4 bangers ... there's nothing you can do with it to make it better besides a carb upgrade or custom exhaust ... and that's a waste.

No disrespect taken.

Just saying, depending on your parts availability ... you can upgrade to larger ujoints that don't break as easy, like came factory in the 95 YJ. I've never done this swap. You can also buy heavy duty ujoints, specific to your application.

There's an old saying ... "Broken? Time to upgrade."

I had to move two vehicles that had been sitting 20 years in the same spot. I pulled the plugs and put a shot of oil in each cylinder, changed the fuel tanks, both were full of crud, and replaced a pile of brake lines. All the rest was just good cleaning, fluid changes, and nothing done quickly.

'71 Mustang Grande and '44 MB if anyone cares.

That is correct sir, 2.5 L TBI. I wanted to do a 350 conversion, but I think a 4.0 will do just fine. Thats a wayzzzzz down the road. I just wanna get it rolling for now. I'll post some pics this weekend.

mine was sort of rescued. Mine spent most of its life in Maine so yeah it had seen some salt and had some rust.

Make sure you take care of any frame issues that you may have... down there.

Mine is now a DD. Of course, I had to replace the radiator, swap in a 8.8, go SOA, etc, etc.

But I did have it reliable with minimal effort. I very much appreciate a vehicle that I can maintain.

Best thing to do... buy a manual and look at the service section and just go through it. You know, where they say after 100,000 miles you should do this and that. I did that just the other weekend. You are going to need a manual anyway.

Good luck, take some pics.

I need to buy a manual. I've just been kinda winging it so far. I'm deff gonna need it. I can't wait to fire it up this weekend. Its hard to find time to wrench on it between work, school, new baby, and wife nagging. Slowly but surely. I'm tempted to video the first engine turn over in 6 years. I should do that and post it here. I think I will .

You should put Marvel Mystery oil in the cylinders before you start it. It should sit for a day or two before you start it. It'll loosen up any stuck rings and lubricate the walls of the cylinders. Turn her over using the key with no plug wires connected. . You need to get the oil to where it has to be. Once turned over a minute or two, connect the plug wires and fire her up. Just a thought. I'd hate to see a oil burner because of a broken/frozen ring. I'd even concider starting her up with no valve cover on, just to see the oil flow to the valves. Looking for dry lifters/push rods. Good luck
