New jeep. Brakes and tail lights reversed

Just bought my an his first jeep. However, minor issue. When I push on the brake, the turn indicators light up. Even the dash lights up solid both ways. The front turn signals also. The turn signals don't work. Was it hooked up backwards? Any help would be awesome
