It's the YJ one... Just remember on these heeps the colors fade and the stripes somehow disappear after time.

Will that wiring link work for 89 YJs too? I'm in bad need of one.

do you have to ground the LED lights to the body or is there a ground on both sides for it?

the lamps your installing will have a pigtail on them (or available separately) which will have a ground wire. That ground wire needs to be grounded to something. Could be frame/tub/battery. just be sure that the metal is clean and not rusty at all.

See my 2nd writeup on LED light installation. It covers all aspects of the wiring, including the ground.

The color code varies from year to year, I think it even changes from model to model. It is as if they use whatever they have lying around. My recommendation, is to use a test light and verify each wire. The only common seems to be black is ground. When using a test light, use an extension lead and run the ground side to the battery, a jumper cable while overkill, will work, This will eliminate the faulty ground problems. I have looked in several manuals and the color codes sometimes vary from manual to manual. Those that are the same are probably plagiarized.

Regards,

Jim W

Jim, there is no ground wire for the YJ tail lights. The ground is accomplished by the three mounting screws that attach the tail light housings to the body. This is why a separate ground wire must be installed for modified lights.

Also, the typical aftermarket lighting wiring harnesses utilize 3 wires for STT (Stop, Tail, Turn) applications. Most all of these will be black, red, and white in color. Black will be for the low output lighting of the parking circuit. Red will be for the high output lighting of the brake & turn circuits. And finally, the white will be the ground for both circuits, which oddly enough flies directly into the face of the "black is ground" school of thought.

Hope this helps!

Max
