need some help w/ shock mount

i just removed my front brakeline off my 89 6cyl and what a pain every bolt broke(rust sucks). i will soon have to do the back lines but i was looking at my left upper rear shock mount where it meets the frame and it is shot(cant be welded due to it is crumbling) so i was wondering where can i find this piece of metal and how much is it?

also i was showing some one my jeep today but earlier today i took out the air filter and its compartment was filled with crap and the big black hose that is connected to the filter, i started it up(didnt drive it) and i forgot that i took them off, is that gunna do damage?

Is the frame rusted real bad where the shock mount is? Because you may need to grind down on the frame some and weld in a patch and then weld the shock mount to that. I would start doing some inspecting on the frame while you are under it and see how bad it is. If your frame is starting to rot real bad it may be safe to cut your losses.

Your probably better off just getting some stock and making your own. It's either that or go to a junk yard and cutting one off another wrecked frame.

shock mount

That is going to be a tough one. I suppose a dealer might be able to get you one. Getting one at a junkyard is an option if you find a yard that will cut one out without butchering it. If it happened to me, I would make a new one. Where are you???

As you have seen, the mount you are talking about fastens to two brackets on the frame. Is it the frame brackets, or the part the shock bolts to that is shot? I can solve either problem, but I need to know how deep I am going.

If it is the brackets on the frame, are you going to have anything to weld to??

If you can take a digital picture, it would help me.

I'll get to work on a mount. I will design it as a one piece mount rather than the two piece as the stock mount is. You will just have to position it on the frame and weld it in place. $35 plus postage ok??
