Need some advice on this used engine

I bought this used engine from ebay.

Jeep Wrangler 4.0 Engine Cherokee Motor 88k Complete : eBay Motors (item 250601753829 end time Mar-24-10 20:04:27 PDT)

I just want a good running used engine that I can put in my project jeep. The ebay listing said it ran good with no smoke or tapping. Ok, sounds good.

When the engine arrived it was on its side and the pallet was damaged.

On closer inspection there is fresh oil around the head. Should I be worried about this or is it because it was shipped on its side?

Also on the back of the engine there is an metal piece that is split. Will this cause problems mounting to the transmission?

Thanks for any advice you can give. I'm worried I bought a bad engine.

The engine looks great

If the engine was not pressure washed or cleaned, any oil looks like typical use. The round bushing that is bent can easily be repaired or get one from your bad engine. How much did ya pay for engine? Cost of shipping? I got an engine 4.0l HO for $600 no manifolds. Mine is good. Frank

Yeah thats just an alignment bushing, as for the oil, thats normal crap. I would rather get it not pressure washed so you know they didnt blow any seals or water into the engine.

I'd slap it in and run it.
