Need a pic from anyone with a 1987 to 1990 YJ with A/C
I need a picture of the connector(s) for the under dash unit of the A/C. I have the under dash assembly from a '93 but it does not have a connector that works with any of the three wires I can find hanging under my dash. More importantly I need to know where that bundle of wires comes out of the main harness so I can try and find mine. Thanks to anyone that can help.

I have a '93 and I bought a blower motor for your year model because it was $70 cheaper. I wired it up. Now I only have med and high blowing. I went through all the wires on the blower motor testing them to figure out which did which and then rewired it to my harness.

Ok, I did some poking around and found my Haynes repair manual to check the wiring diagram. And It would appear that 87 to 95 use the same connector for the under dash unit. Now the only issue it that I cant fine it under the dash, and its not to easy of an angle to look at. Anyone know where it would be tucked away since its not hanging free? I would think that I must have it, I have all the other connections needed in the engine bay. I'm going back out to inspect the dash again in hopes of finding it...

I have an 87 with factory AC, I am going to have it fixed soon along with my heater, I don't understand very well what you are asking for but I can take pics of mine if you explain a bit more (for dummies style hehe)

Are you talking about the A/C or the heater fan. A/C comes from the rotary switch to the fan and it also turn the compressor too.You have to drop it and then pull the cover off to get to anything. You will have two wires that exit one is power and the other signal for the compressor. Ground through frame.

I think some pictures might help here since I seem to be a little confusing.
This is what I have (along with all the the other A/C stuff)
That part needs to go under the dash (already know that) the blower is mounted to it and connects to a wiring harness on the under dash unit. What I need to figure out is where the connector is on the Jeep to plug the under dash unit into the existing harness in the Jeep. I was told all Jeeps got the same harness (for accessories) no matter what they had installed, so every connection should be there under the dash somewhere...
This is the connector on the A/C dash unit and I need to find the other end of this somewhere on the underside of my dash and am having no luck.

Jeep with A/C...hmmmm strange concept. You should just get a Honda, they have good A/Cs and get better gas mileage.

This isn't an "A/C or not to A/C" thread.

Are you adding A/C or replacing the under-dash unit? My 1987 had dealer-installed A/C and it was a mess. If you do not have factory air, this may be why you cannot find the harness you are looking for.

Some of us use our Jeeps as daily drivers, and we have no interest in owning any other vehicle, plus I would like all systems on my Jeep to work, and have it running as good as I can, even if I would not use them often.
Elvis, I did not find that plug on my jeep, not without removing the dash, now, I can loose the screws and take a look tomorrow morning if you do not mind waiting.

I did. I got an '09 Civic AND I have air in my YJ, which I will be converting to 134a in the near future.
Oh yeah, I also fixed the A/C in my '86 civic too. Love that air.
As far as the connector, I thought it was a 4 prong, inline, but I don't have an '89 model so I can't be sure. But I believe I have a blower motor from an '89.

Mine doesn't have that connector. It has a Ground,12v power and a wire to the A/C clutch. All of the blower spd wiring is done in the unit. You may not have the connector in the stock Jeep harness...
As for the stud who thinks A/C in a Jeep is useless....good for you. On the hot humid days in a thunderstorm I stay nice and cool and I'll wave to your wet butt. Also when pounding the mud when it's 80* out I keep my top sealed up and the A/C on. The Jeep may stink like a rotten puddle and be covered with mud but I stay clean and cool. As far as I'm concerned it's part of wheeling smart.
To each his own though.. Don't be afraid of technology.....

hdfxrs91: I'm adding the A/C.
Fernando: You dont need to pull your dash apart, if I can't find the wires I'll just make my own harness. But thanks for the offer.
I'm starting to think that the connector is infact different. I only have three bundles of wires hanging down.
Burnerman: Do any of these conncetors look like what you have going to your A/C? This is all I have hanging down off my dash.
