Need New Rear End and Driveline

So yesterday evening I am accelerating down the freeway when my driveline comes apart on me at 60mph. My rear end is toast, so I am going to start looking for a Ford 8.8. Obviously I need a new driveline as well. Hoping my transmission is OK.

From the pictures what's your opinion on the damage? Dollar for dollar is the Ford 8.8 my best choice? Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Drive line looks fine just neeed new joints, but you will need a new tail cone on the t case. Ford 8.8 is a good upgrade so is the XJ Dana 44 found in 88-90 Limited with tow package. Can be a cheap or costly upgrade putting in a new rear axle. Depends on if you have to regear the rear, and/or dont know how to weld the perches and brackets on.

More pics? What exactly is wrong with the rear axle? Your driveshaft actually looks ok from the picture, Just looks like a rear u joint and tail cone on the transfer case. Though things can get torn up when that happens doing 60...

What happened here? Looks like your u joint and straps are still in tact. Did the tail cone just snap off or what?

Look at the rear yoke. It looks like the caps are still in there. Maube when the U joint blew the driveshaft was flopping around it broke the tail cone. Not sure how the driveshaft stayed in though
