Need help with winch??

I have a Champion 8000lb winch and the guy i just bought it off put a brand new winch motor on, and he gave me the piece that has 3 prongs that plugs into the side and has 3 wires coming of it,so if i take 2 of the wires and touch them together i can get the winch to roll out, and when i touch the other wire to suck it in, it dosent do anything. if i switch it over to free rool i can move it by hand either way, What does it sound like the problem is?? i need to get a switch and wire it up, but trying to figure out why it only went one way when i tried it...??

Sound's like it you were a sucker ! The way I am reading this it seems like the winch controller is shot.

There is a reason people buy Warn,Ramsey,Milemarker and Superwinch winches. For reliability. I've owned a Warn winch and I will never own another Brand winch other than Warn .

I'm guessing one of the solenoids are bad...The control only opens/ closes the solenoids.

yes and no, you need to see whats in the control pack...do you have a pick of the winch and control pack...

I'd swap the solenoids between themselves and see what happens. That'll tell you if ine is bad or not..

If its a new winch they shouldn't be bad....

also a pic of what was cut?
