Need Help quick!!!!

Does anybody have any suggestions whatsoever as to how to get a pitman arm off. I have tried a puller and broke it in half and tried beating it off. Nothing works. I have a 4" RC lift installed but I cannot get the pitman arm off to install the drop pitman arm. Please let me know about anyway to get this off. When I tried to beat it off all it did was start to pull the whole end out of the steering box. I need help please.
Thanks
Robbie

I've had to install the puller with an impact. Once there is pressure on it hit the puller bolt with a hammer. Keep repeating this untill it pops. They are a b**ch to get off.

No problem, I have beaten myself silly with them before. Let us know how it goes.

I will let you know. I just went and picked up another puller. Hopefully this one will hold together.
Thanks

Do what vtjeepthing said, post #2 it's the proper way to do it, just be patient and it will come off.

Thanks, I am going to try that tomorrow and will let you know how it goes. How about installing the drop pitman arm. I am assuming that I just tap it back on the steering box.
Thanks
Robbie

installing is easy, put it on there lined up properly on the splines and tighten the nut.

soak it overnight with some sort of penetrating oil that you may have, that may help break the rust free

Some of them can be very stubborn. I had one that wouldn't come off with a hydraulic puller & I didn't want to use a torch & possibly damage the seals, so I took it off with a couple of cuts and a thin chisel to crack the last bit of cast. Here's a pic:

I tried post #2 and it didn't even budge. This thing is stuck!! All it did was bend the puller to the point of breaking had I not stopped. Is a torch safe to use to heat it up and then try to get it off? I really wouldn't feel comfortable trying to cut it but if I had to then I guess I could. What are the dangers as far as heat and how high is the risk of hurting something?
Thanks
Robbie

Heating the nut often works to loosen things up (it'll expand ever so slightly as it gets hot.) It won't hurt the metal components, but as was mentioned previously, if the high temp gets up the shaft to the rubber seals, you could end up needing to replace those... but maybe you want to do that anyway? It's also possible that the seals will come through it just fine.

Ok thanks. It has got to come off and I am tired of breaking pullers. Any other suggestions are welcome.
Thanks

i always have success with getting the puller tight, and then beating on the pitman arm and puller bolt with a sledge hammer. never failed yet!
